Spice Bag Tofoo & Crispy Chili Seitan
Rumour has it that this duo will have you licking your lips, rather than staring blankly at a wall like a zombie for 45 minutes. Bonus points: Tofoo is completely legal. Step one: get your hands on the right spices. Step two: get ready for a legendary fakeaway night.

Ingredients
- 100g Crispy Panko Bites
- Mixed peppers & White onion, diced
- Finely chopped green chillies
- Onion & garlic powder, five spice, MSG, sugar
- Dark soy sauce
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Cooked chips
- S&B Golden Curry Sauce (made to packet instructions)
The Curry Sauce:
Method
- The crunch: Deep fry the crispy panko bites until golden, and get your chips fried and ready.
- Wok it: Fire up the wok and stir-fry the onions and peppers until they take on some color. Toss in the cooked chips, crispy Tofoo, and dark soy sauce. Toss vigorously, then scatter over your dry spice mix and fresh green chillies.
- Serve: Because you’re smart, you’ve already got that golden curry sauce warming on the side. Plate up immediately while it’s piping hot.
Ingredients
- 100g Tofoo Original Seitan, torn into shreds
- Mixed peppers & White onion, diced
- Minced garlic & ginger
- Onion powder, garlic powder, five spice, MSG
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Spring onions (greens sliced for garnish, whites for the pan)
The Sauce:
3 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
1 tbsp dark soy sauce (or Lee Kum Kee Stir Fry Sauce)
Method
- Stir-fry: Shallow fry your shredded seitan until it starts to brown. Toss in the peppers, onions, garlic, and ginger, turning the heat up high. Stir-fry hard until beautifully charred and glossy.
- Spice and glaze: Dust in your dry seasonings (onion, garlic, five-spice, and MSG) and mix well. Pour in your sauces and let them bubble down until they form a sticky glaze clinging to the seitan.
- Finish: Garnish with spring onion greens and toasted sesame seeds. Serve next to a steaming bowl of rice.
