The Ultimate Ham Seitan Sandwich

Ingredients

  • A decent crusty roll (sourdough or rye, if you’re feeling trad)
  • Slices of Seitan Ham (as stacked as your appetite)
  • Pickled red onions
  • Dill pickles
  • Red + white cabbage slaw
  • Rocket or something leafy
  • Yellow mustard
  • A slick of vegan mayo
  • Get started

    Step 1
    Toast the roll – Not just warmed. Properly golden, so it crunches when you bite but still gives in the middle. Like the perfect rom-com character arc.

    Step 2
    Sizzle that seitan – Fry your slices in a hot pan with a splash of oil until they get those crispy edges and a bit of chew. About 3 minutes.

    Step 3
    Slather your base bun with mustard. And/or mayo. Don’t overthink it. Just make it saucy.

    Step 4
    Stack it up:
    A handful of rocket (for the ‘look how healthy I am’ vibe)
    Slaw (get those textures going)
    Seitan slices (be generous)
    Pickled onions (pop of pink, bit of sass)
    Pickles (crinkle cut = elite)

    Step 5
    Crown it with your top bun – press it down just enough to let the mustard drip a little. That’s the shot.
