Pulled Tofoo BBQ Sliders

Grated, seasoned, and oven-baked until it pulls apart just like the real thing, this Smoked Tofoo takes on a proper BBQ shred texture in under 25 minutes. Simmered in a sticky BBQ sauce and piled into toasted rolls with a crunchy apple slaw, these sliders are built for sharing - genuinely great for game day, a garden party, or just feeding a crowd without much fuss.

Ingredients

  1. 1 pack Smoked Tofoo
  2. 100ml BBQ sauce
  3. 8 small bread rolls
  4. 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  5. 2 tbsp soy sauce
  6. 1 tsp chilli powder
  7. 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  8. 1/2 tsp garlic powder
For the Apple Slaw
  1. 1/2 red apple (finely chopped into thin strips)
  2. 1/2 green apple (finely chopped into thin strips)
  3. 1/2 white onion (finely chopped into thin strips)
  4. 1/4 white cabbage (finely chopped into thin strips)
  5. Vegan mayonnaise to bind

Get started

  1. Method pre heat the oven to 180°c.
  2. Grate the Tofoo on the big side of a grater and place into a mixing bowl. Add the vegetable oil, soy, chilli and garlic power and the smoked paprika and toss until the Tofoo is well coated. Add the seasoned Tofoo to a lined baking tray and bake in the centre of the oven for 20-25 mins, tossing halfway through cooking.
  3. Once cooked gently use two forks to pull apart the tofoo
  4. In a small sauce pan add the BBQ sauce and a splash of water and leave to simmer.
  5. Add the apple slaw ingredients to a bowl mix with the mayo and season.
  6. Take the small bread rolls and cut in half and toast under a hot grill, put to one side.
  7. Now take your pulled Tofoo and add it to the pan of BBQ sauce.
  8. Now compile your sliders with the pulled BBQ Tofoo and a spoon full of apple slaw.
