Chilli Con Tofoo for under £5

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil – 1 for Tofoo, 1 for veg*
  • Smoked Tofoo, roughly chopped (£2.15/£2.70)
  • 1 large white onion, chopped (33p)
  • 1 celery stick, chopped (14p)
  • 1 carrot, chopped (8p)
  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes (32p)
  • 41g chilli con carne spice mix (90p)
  • 1tbsp vegan Worcester Sauce (5p)
  • 1 tbsp treacle (16p)
  • 400g tin kidney beans, drained and rinsed (33p)
Optional Extras
  • 200g tortilla chips
  • Tub guacamole
  • Tub salsa

Get started

  1. Heat 1tbsp of your oil in a large casserole pan over a medium heat, chuck in your Tofoo and shimmy about for a few 5 mins until lightly golden all over. Remove from the pan and pop to one side.
  2. In the same pan, add another tbsp of olive oil and throw in your onion, celery and carrot and cook for 10 mins until softened, giving a good stir every now and then.
  3. Add all other ingredients plus your Tofoo, give a good stir and add a generous pinch of salt and pepper before simmering for 10 mins. You may need to add a little water to loosen if needed!
  4.  Serve with your fave chilli accomps and get dunking those nachos! The perfect 1-pot wonder that saves on washing up!
